SERGIO BORGES CHAIA
President and CEO
Nextel Brazil
Sergio Chaia was recently appointed as the President and CEO of Nextel Brazil. In this position, he oversees the company’s operations in the market while focusing predominantly on fueling company growth through ongoing efforts to provide the most exceptional customer service in the industry.
Chaia leads a team of seven vice-presidents covering the company’s Customer Operations, Sales, Engineering, Finance, Legal and Regulatory, Marketing and Human Resources areas, reporting to the Mercosur division.
Prior to joining Nextel Brazil, Chaia was the President and CEO for Sodexho Pass Brazil, which he joined in 1996 as Marketing Director. During his time in the company, Sergio contributed to the company’s growth and guided and committed the organization in its entirety to a new business ideal. His track record of success included his position as Human Resources Director and General Manager.
Chaia has also worked with Pepsi Cola, as the Marketing Manager for both the Food and Drinks division—initially responsible for the re-launching of the Pepsi brand in Brazil—and Pfizer, as the company’s Senior Product Manager in charge of product launching and repositioning.
Chaia has a Business Administration degree from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) and is a postgraduate in Marketing and Finance, also from FGV. He also participated at the INSEAD General Management Program in France.
